-- About Temple --

The Allahabad Kalibari, dedicated to the worship of Goddess Kali, was established in 1860 by seer Krishnanand Brahmachari. He established similar temples across the country as part of his initiative. The temple in Allahabad was initially a small structure on land donated , Raas Bihari Ghosh. It is now maintained by the Allahabad Kalibari Maintenance Society The temple is known for its ancient Tantrik puja traditions and has replaced the traditional goat sacrifice with sugarcane. It houses an awe-inspiring idol of the goddess, along with smaller temples dedicated to other deities like Radha-Krishna, Lord Shiva, Satyanarayan, Ganesh, Hanuman, and Shanidev. There's also a sacrificial chamber within the temple premises. The temple's history is intertwined with the Bengali community in Allahabad, who consider it a sacred place of worship. It is a significant religious and cultural center for them, especially during festivals like Durga Puja and Kali Puja.
